Art of the Business Portrait

leave a comment »

Dreaded by many; embraced by some…The Business Portrait. One of the most challenging assignments for a photographer, but also very frequently needed by magazines and corporations. The task: Walk into a strange, often non-descript environment and have limited time to make a compelling image. I enjoy the challenge. For me, it’s an opportunity to use technical and social skills on the fly. As in all good portraiture, it comes down to trying to capture a snippet of the subjects personality. Here’s a shot from a recent photo session with Jeb Hurley, the CEO of Onyx Graphics. You may have never heard of them, but chances are if you do any amount of image printing you’ve used their product. I love the image we made; it helps to have a great subject.
